Zierikzee

| And what an appetizer this is! The sail from Yrseke to Zierikzee was a new adventure with yet new impressions: to sail during low waters! The same way north as we had came south the day before. But instead of water around us, we had land! I really understand why this is called Zeeland. It is really a "Zee" with "Land" in it! Sandbanks to each side of us while we slowly sailed to the town we had promised Jurriaan and Christiene not to miss. | |||||||
| Zierikezee is exactly how you imagine Holland! Beautiful buildings, brides, towers, everything as it should be! Therefore we had made up with my sister Jenny, who lives in Brussels, to meet us here. She wanted an excursion and we wanted to see her. At the same time, we could arrange to move our car from Oude Tonge to Roompot, where we planed to sail tomorrow and from where to take our car to Brussels over the week end. | ![]() |

| So while we went into the beautiful Zierikzee in the afternoon, Jenny arrived by car and was looking for us and our boat. She walked keeping a sharp look-out for a Hallberg-Rassy and eventually came to the harbour master's office. "Have you seen my brother sailing with a Hallberg-Rassy here somewhere? They are from Sweden but they are sailing with a Dutch Hallberg-Rassy?!". - A Dutch Hallberg-Rassy, that was a not too detailed description, the Harbour Master must have thought, but did want to help, anyway. He could not identify us, but could tell about a strange Dutch man, who refused to talk in his native language but only talked in English to him. Yes, maybe the boat was a Hallberg-Rassy...., thought the helpful Harbour Master. "That's him!" Jenny said and went off to the direction indicated by the harbour master. Shortly thereafter, Jenny saw the Swedish flag under the port spreader and knew she was right, despite the fact that we were not on board. Some flirts with the neighbours and she was able to borrow his cell phone to call us. |

| Shortly thereafter, we all sat in a restaurant and had some beer and a great meal together with her two kids Clara (3 years) and Senta (3 months). So the plans for tomorrow are to sail to Roompot (which is an astonishing 6 miles sail from here) and from there to proceed by car to Brussels on Saturday morning to visit Leon's sister Jenny (baby Senta is to be Christianed, which is an adequate reason to leave ZEEPAARD for a couple of days. |
