Tidal Water Planning

The following day was used for planning purposes. Tidal Water Planning. How to get to Yrseke. This took more or less the whole day. That is what we said at least. The fact that it was raining cats and dogs, as the English say, and that the "Kuchenbude" is so cozy, might have helped, too. In any case, the NAVTEX talked about "Starkwindwarnung", i.e. gale, today.

So we can confess that we have not moved a lot today. Karolina made it to the shop buying an onion and a bottle of white wine, wile the rest of us just walked to the Harbour master to pay the fee for another night. Under protest from Jonathan, that is, who definitely did not want to leave home, i.e. ZEEPAARD, which he loves. So, yes, we staid in Brouwershaven today. We could not really find a reason to move on, since it was so nice, warm and dry inside ZEEPAARD.

The "Kuchenbude" is great and we can not understand why we never had one on our HR31. Maybe it would have been enough to buy a "Kuchenbude" instead of an entirely new boat, since she gets so much bigger with the tent over the cockpit. It's almost like having a deck saloon boat with a view over the entire harbour. But not very much did happen in Brouwershaven today, not many boats left and not very many came, and I have thus today not very much to write about. | ||||||||
We have really got used to ZEEPAARD now and we do not bang our heads any longer, neither in the forepeak, nor at the windshield in the companionway. We find all we need and just have vacation and enjoy not having any timetable to follow.

This will change tomorrow, however, when we do want to take advantage of the tidal streams and thus have to leave port at 08.00 to be at the lock to enter the Osterschelde in time for favorable tides (0.3 knots but still!). But in case we decide against that, we can always stop for a swim or stay in the Grevelingenmeer. It is so wonderful not to have any concrete plans. Time for bed, since we have to get up EARLY tomorrow to catch the tides!
