Art

The winner of the Adult's class of the Sand Sculpture Competition at the Columbus Festival. Coming from a Norwegian boat, please observe the possibly slightly politically incorrect situation with a Viking boat in the far north already having reached America, while Columbus is fighting on the Atlantic facing sea snakes at the end of the world. He won, nevertheless!
On this page, I am posting the artistic work Jessica and Jonathan have been doing on our voyage. Of course not all of these might belong into a strict scholar scheme, but they are fun to share nevertheless. After all, they have been produced "outside school hours".
A model of a Viking ship as part of our "Viking Project", finalized with boat kids from Sarah Grace (UK) and Galadriel (Norway) in Porto Santo.
Painting of our logo on the huge harbour pier of Porto Santo with countless other yachties "footprints" on the wall.
Jessica working hard on her sand sculpture on the Columbus Festival as part of our Columbus Project.
Jessica and Jonathan receiving their art diploma from "Columbus" himself at the Columbus Festival, Porto Santo.
Boat kids from three different yachts having participated to decorate the "Columbus Wall".
On Graciosa in the Canaries, Liz from the Australian boat Amaranth gave all boat kids a four day lecture in art. Being an artist herself, this was the best art lesson possible! Ranging from scetching, drawing and sculpture all boat kids had great afternoons after school.
Liz from Amaranth explaining how to draw a coconut palmtree to Jonathan.
Liz leading the painting of the sculpures on the breakwater of Graciosa.
Proud boat kids showing their artwork at an exhibition inviting all yachties to come to the vernisage. Please observe the spectacular background.
