The Name of Regina

The meaning of Regina - Queen in Latin - does for sure suit well for such a wonderful boat, as our Hallberg-Rassy 40. A Queen of the Seas.

Also, the fact that her name ends with an "A", and thus should bring luck to the boat, reflects the seafarers' tradition.

One can also pronounce the name in most languages and is not too long or complicated to spell out via radio: ROMEO ECHO GOLF INDIA NOVEMBER ALPHA.

However, all these good reasons for the name "Regina" is not the real background for her being given this name. Instead, it is to honour my grandma', my monther's mother, with whom I had a very special relationship.

My "mormor" Regina sailing together with me onboard my Albin Viggen CELICIA in 1986, 85 years of age

While living in Germany as a kid she represtented my Swedish base in life and while studying at the university school of Chalmers in Gothenburg, she was my nearest relative close by. Her never being afraid of trying something new and a lot of humour influenced my life as well as helping my carrying on the Swedish rootes.

After she died in 1996, 95 yars of age, I still feel her being around and somehow I believe her being the godmother of our boat.
