|
| We have equipped our boat to suit various waters and future possibilities. Safety comes first and thus a lot of attention has been given here, also taking into account our experience from our previous boats, as well as other sailing colleagues and friends.
When reading this, you might believe we have long distance cruising in mind, but according to my opinion, sailing in the North Sea is enough reason to have an adequately equipped boat. The difference to find ourselves in a gale on the cold North Sea with its heavy traffic, or travelling along the trade winds is not that great to me. The difference between long distance sailing and cruising in Northern Europe is more the amount of spare parts you carry.
This is also one of the reasons why we opted for a Hallberg-Rassy: these boats come very well equipped already as standard, meaning that less additional equipment is necessary than for other boats.
The following list consists both of the standard equipment for a HR40 as well as some extra equipment we have opted for. Also listed are some useful loose equipment we have taken along from our previous boat.
If you are the lucky owner of a Hallberg-Rassy boat you can buy most, if not all, equipment through HR Parts&Accessories. I personally find buying equipment this way very cost-efficient and hazzle free with prompt delivery to any place in the world. Going through a supplier who knows HR boats in and out is one of the major reasons why we enjoy sailing a Hallberg-Rassy so much.
I hope you find it useful for your own reference and you are welcome to contact us if you have any further question regarding the equipment.
I have also gathered some experience with the mentioned equipment here.

As for many sailors, an auxiliary engine was also an option for quite some time, be it an AC or DC genset. For my thoughts on a diesel generator, please check here.
